Native to Southeast Asia, Rambután is commonly grown in warm tropical or semi-tropical regions. The tree germinates 10 to 21 days after the seed is planted and is ready to harvest in about 5 years. As trees mature they settle to one main fruiting per year and a window of 3 to 5 months of harvest. It typically takes 4 months from flower to harvest. J&C Tropicals sources it’s rambutan from leading producing countries throughout the season:

  • Guatemala from April to October.
  • Costa Rica from August to November.
  • Honduras from August to January.
  • Vietnam from January to April.

Easy to peel. Chew gently
to separate the seed from
the flesh. Serve chilled,
discard the pit. Do not
refrigerate below 50°F.
